Home of the Angels
The Angels played from 1961-1965 as tenants of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 1961 they played in tiny Wrigley Field, which seated 20,047. The Dodgers had acquired Wrigley from the Cubs in a trade of minor league teams and facilities. The Cubs had built Wrigley in LA in the 1920s and opened it on September 27, 1925, as a dedication to those men killed in World War I. The LA Angels, members of the Pacific Coast League, played in Wrigley Field until the deal with the Dodgers in the late 1950s. After their surprisingly successful 1961 season (8th in a ten-team league), the Angels opted to rent Dodger Stadium from 1962-1965, where they hoped to draw larger crowds. This worked somewhat, but in 1966 they moved to their own home, "The Big A" in Anaheim.
